Spurs News
Tottenham starlet Dean Marney has revealed Republic of Ireland's hopes of having him available for selection have been thwarted.
Football Association of Ireland officials made enquiries about
Marney's eligibility hoping he could play for the country.
The 20-year-old has burst onto the scene in the last few weeks after scoring twice against
Everton.
It was reported that
Marney did qualify for the
Irish side through an Irish grandparent, but those hopes have been dashed with his only link being to an Irish great-grandparent.
"Some people from the Irish Football Association contacted Spurs last year to find out if I qualified for Ireland, but it turns out that I only have an Irish great-grandfather, which is not enough to make me eligible," Marney told Off The Ball.
Thanks to www.skysports.com for the info.

Yesterday's game got very heated....though not helped by the fact that there were at least 3 dives in the penalty area from the word 'go' (they must have trained in a swimming pool

).
To be fair however,
Robbie's tumble was probably a bit contentious too, probably frustrated about how the game was going....which contributed to his less than accurate shot in the closing stages of the game.
Spurs played really well though, but
Chelsea's 'bully-boy' tactics is not something I'd pay to see every week, but if that's how
Mourinho wins leagues then that's his choice.
Next Week:
Crystal Palace (Away)
Should have a fantastic game....hopefully
Kanouté will be back (no disrespect to
Ledley King but he shouldn't have been put out in front...exposed our defences which caused the second goal)
I'm hoping now that
Chelsea don't get the title, but that seems less likely now...plus, what other option is there? The top three are literally in a league of their own.
To finish on a lighter note -
'I'd like to play for an Italian club, like Barcelona.' - Mark Draper

12/01/2005 12:32:18 pmThe march of the
Spurs goes on as we reach 7th position. (I've promised myself not to mention the
Man Utd game...we'd be in 6th by now.....)
I'm off to see the
Chelsea game on Saturday.... hopefully after Scunthorpe's scary performance in the cup
Chelsea won't go in feeling so confident (Hope Utd beat them...never thought I'd hear myself saying that)
I really hope we don't play the same type of game we did earlier in the season against them. But I reckon it'll be a close fought game, we're more than a match for them (I hope).
My prediction 2 - 1 to the Spurs....Keane'll get em both...he's been on fire recently.
20/11/2004 6:00:32 pmAnother long delay in posting...apologies apologies apologies.
Spurs' run of success seems to have stepped down another notch in the past 3 weeks.
Fulham played a very downtrodden team I thought since we didn't get in the game at all.
I was [un]fortunate enough to be at the
Charlton game. Needless to say, this game was wholly affected by
Santini's departure. The squad wasn't totally what I would have expected but was vastly improved by the bringing on of
Carrick. The atmosphere was electric, despite the loss.
Spurs V
Arsenal - What can I say?...I quite enjoyed it.
Davenport has returned from his spell at
West Ham just as
Tarricco goes off there. I know there is some strong link being forged between the two clubs...they say that's why Santini left, but who knows...?

29/10/2004 2:50:12 pmHi All,
Sorry for the long delay in posting but I've been in the USA. (How great it was to hear about
Arsenal losing when I got back, amazing

)
Spurs are back to the regular mid-table position but show signs of promise. 4-3 against
Bolton!! Greatstuff
Only 3 points between 10th and 5th anyway.
Thanks everyone!!

03/10/2004 1:55:04 pmDidn't we do well yesterday!!!
I watched
Everton V
Spurs last season in a pub full of Arsenal and Chelsea fans....wasn't I a brave guy.
This game was a whole lot more impressive,
Pamarot putting a brilliant header into the net. (Against the run of play? I wouldn't say that....)
Admittedly Spurs had only 3 shots and 2 corners...but its goals that count
!!!1-0!!!
Thanks everyone!!

25/09/2004 5:57:46 pmHi all!
Sorry for such the long delay in updating but I've been overwhelmed by
Spurs' success. Up until half an hour ago we were 5th in the table!!
Greatstuff
My Championship Managing of Margate FC came to an abrupt end about a month ago however, since my whole game seems to be corrupt.(I can't even start a new game!!!

) I reckon I've scratched the CD too much
Anyway, I'd already pre-ordered CM5 and am waiting for it to arrive in the post in about a week, when quality service will resume (I'll probably start as
Spurs to cheer myself up).
I hope you're all enjoyin your CMs anyway and I can't wait to be welcomed into the fold again with open arms.
Into the real world again then,
Spurs have really done themselves proud. I watched last week's match on telly in Millwall's Executive Lounge (it was the only place I could go...all the pubs near me are Chelsea)
Spurs have certainly set the pace this season (compared to the disasterous start last year anyway.)
I reckon we must be doing something with
West Ham...think of all the transfers between them and us there's been in and out:
Etherington,Davenport,Kanouté,Defoe,Carr ick and there must be more...
Anyway, I think those ramblings have just about made up for my long absence...I'm amazed that almost 1000 people have logged on
If there's some news I've missed please feel free to
mail me.
Thanks everyone!!
29/08/2004 8:31:37 amWell done to
Defoe yesterday. He created a goal out of nothing to secure a Spurs Victory and put us in 3rd position!!!
After the 2 week break we play Norwich City FC (live on Sky).
Greatstuff

SPURS NEWS
Thimothee Atouba is out of contention for the Birmingham encounter at the Lane after picking up a knee injury against West Brom on Wednesday.
The good news is that
Jermain Defoe - substituted at the Hawthorns - remains in the squad which, apart from
Atouba, is unchanged.
Thanks to www.spurs.co.uk
Thanks all

!! 2-1 to the Spurs please!!!
25/08/2004 8:49:18 pmHi all!
Half-time at The Hawthorns and the match has certainly been interesting, but for the first time in my memory at least, Spurs are making a good fight for it and not rolling over. The second half will need to be doubly effective for us to come away with a win.
Keane is back in the strikeforce, whilst
Pamarot makes his debut.
Meanwhile at Hartsdown Park (that's Margate FC for you uninitiated) my attack on the Second Division has come with limited success (as expected) but after 5 games we are languishing in 16th place. We now have however almost £1 million in the bank (we started with about £5K!) and have reached the second round of the Carling Cup playing Charlton at home ( we might just win then

)
Knock yourselves out footie fans. (Up the Spurs

2-1 please!!!)
